Just used OMrun for the first time running (well actually fast walking) on a treadmill. I'm using the OMsignal box that I purchased a nearly two years ago.
One issue and one request:
Issue - the distance estimated by OMrun is probably a factor of five greater than the distance I actually did. Is this an initial calibration issue ?
Request - could the app override the Auto-Lock iOS function as Runkeeper does ?
Many thanks. My partner can't wait for her OMbra to turn up.
Thanks for reaching out! I appreciate having the opportunity to address your feedback.
With regards to the distance, one theory could be that the treadmill you were running on has not been calibrated recently. Our algorithms are based on estimates of outdoor runs, so we are also continuously working on improving our indoor algorithms so you can expect to see gradual improvement. OMrun is also optimized for jogging/running and not walking, therefore you may get different results when walking.
If you live in a climate that permits outdoor running this time of year, did you try using OMrun outdoors and comparing your distance to an indoor run? We’d be very interested in hearing the results of both.
Lastly, not sure if you noticed, however during your run there is a lock button at the bottom of the app you can press to lock your screen.
Thanks again for your questions and feedback and for giving OMrun a spin! We’re looking forward to hearing more of your feedback (as well as your partner’s) and are happy to answer any further questions you may have.
Thanks for getting back to us with that information. Very much appreciated and good to know for the folks in our Dev team.
I connected with our VP of Engineering, and he advised me that we launched OMrun with different algorithms for men and women, so this is likely why you and your partner are seeing a difference. Thanks again for flagging the discrepancy.
The good news is that we are fine tuning our algorithms for both men and women in an effort to make them more accurate. The new and improved app will be released this week so please keep your eyes peeled for the update and please kindly update us with your findings once you and Sarah get in a few runs :)
Thanks again for reaching out. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future. In the meantime, if there’s anything I can do to help, please do not hesitate to let me know, I’m happy to help.
